DEI Foundation Course – Allyship for HR


There are people who understand there is much to learn about Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and the role that HR can play as either a champion or a barrier to it.

They are ready to challenge their own thinking and make up their own mind about what inclusion means in their organisations.

They are ready to embrace the uncomfortable side of DEI, examining their own personal identities and how their own thoughts, feelings and behaviours shape their decisions.

Is this you?

This Allyship for HR Foundation Course brings you together with a peer group online. You will meet one morning a month for six months. Working with your experienced facilitator, trainer and speakers to really explore this topic and what it means for you, your teams and your organisation.

Session 1: The Basics of DEI

  • Establishing psychological safety
  • Understanding terminology
  • What do diversity, equity and inclusion mean to you and your organisation?
  • Examining Identity, Intersectionality & Allyship

Session 2: Personal Identity

  • Examining identity, society and privilege
  • Understanding intersectionality and allyship

Session 3: The Strategic Landscape

  • Organisational specifics
  • Accountability
  • Inclusive leadership
  • Establishing leadership buy-in
  • The connection to culture and Values

Session 4: Guest Voices

  • Featuring a special guest speaker to bring the perspectives and lived experiences of others to life

Session 5: Tactical Action

  • Your business challenges
  • Using data strategically
  • Inclusive approaches, policies and processes

Session 6: Building for the future

  • Setting goals
  • Managing change
  • Measuring progress and overcoming blockers

You have a responsibility to turn on your own lights first… Otherwise you’re just leading people around in the dark.

Sessions are all 9.30am – 12.30pm



About your trainer:

Katie Allen is a specialist diversity, equity and inclusion consultant and executive coach. Her work with organisations enables them to connect their desire for an improved workplace culture with a strategic approach, in order to successfully achieve their business aims. Drawing on her experience as both a senior commercial business leader and in-house HR professional, Katie is known for asking the difficult questions that are needed for change, and creating a safe environment for discussion and courageous conversations. Katie spent over 15 years working in both senior commercial leadership positions, and in-house HR roles and holds chartered status as an HR professional.
